Copper Etching Workshop – Chemical-free

This is such a fun and creative workshop and I am so excited to share this technique.

Etching of metals generally involves a harsh chemical process. Not only is this bad for you, it’s bad for the environment with waste solutions often being disposed of incorrectly and irresponsibly.

In this workshop, I will take you through a chemical-free etching technique that is totally safe.

We will begin by making an etching unit, which is yours to take home at the end of the day. We then go on to choose and transfer an etch design, followed by the best part – etching!

Once you have etched your copper plate, you have the opportunity to design and make three (yes three!) pairs of earrings using basic jeweller’s techniques. You will learn how to use the jeweller’s saw, and a variety of patina and texturing effects to finish your earrings in style.

This is a full day workshop, and it will be a full day…

Your new-found etching skills will allow you to follow on at home and create not only jewellery pieces, but a variety of artistic projects using easily-sourced materials and items you may already have at home.

Your workshop fee includes all materials and use of studio tools and equipment, as well as sterling silver findings for your earrings.

Workshop fee – $180
