This stunning multi-coloured cabochon is actually made from the excess glazing left behind in the making of Italian ceramic tiles.
Excess glaze drops to the bottom of the kiln during the firing process, and forms layers over many firings. The layer of ceramic is chipped away from the base of the kiln and then expertly cut and polished into its cabochon form, creating this earthy and organic layering of colours.
